Vottovaara is a mysterious place not included in standard tourist routes. The mountain keeps a lot of secrets — there are numerous "seidas", trees of bizarre shape, stone pool, "dead" silence and a peculiar mystic atmosphere. Mount Vottovaara in Karelia is dubbed by superstitious people as a place of evil forces and a portal to another world: there are ugly trees, almost no fauna, dead lakes. It is even called a death mountain by the locals!

Tour program:

05:00 am - Departure from Petrozavodsk to Gimoly village (total distance about 220 km);

10:30 am - Arrival in Gimoly village. Home-made lunch (soup, second course, tea, pies);

11:00 am - Departure by UAZ vehicle to Mount Vottovaara. 20 km track through swamps and muddy terrain;

noon - Reaching the foothill of Mount Vottovaara. Start of guided trekking. 6-7 hours on the mount (depends on how tired you are). Climbing the top, exploring local crooked trees, ancient labyrinths and altars, listening to the stories about Hyperborea and UFO haunting Vottovaara;

06:30 pm - Getting inside UAZ vehicle and departure to Gimoly;

07:30 pm - Home-made dinner;

08:00 pm - Departure to Petrozavodsk;

00:00 - Arrival in Petrozavodsk.
